This community is famous for wooden shipbuilding, having produced over 4,000 vessels for nearly 300 years, beginning in the year of 1668.  Periwinkles is known as a great wedding hall but also serves as a place for corporate events and provides elegant catering services.

Periwinkle’s Banquet Hall and Facility currently stands on a site that was occupied at one time by a tidal-powered sawmill.
